Could This Be The Most Interesting Dress In The World?

We think Tracy Reese must have somehow invaded our dreams when she designed this near-perfect frock…  Sheer georgette over a lingerie-inspired lining? Check.  Oh-so-chic French sailor’s stripes? Check.  Our biggest weakness, animal print? Check.  Is it just as chic with opaque black tights right now as it will be in the spring with an updo and kitten heels? Check.

Does it pair well with our delicate Parisian accessories? Check.

Can we toss on a simple-yet-gorgeous, handmade grosgrain ribbon belt to define the waist? Check.

Was it recently featured in our Fashion Bible, Lucky Magazine? Check.

We think this answers it…  This is the most interesting dress in the world!  Stay stylish, my friends.

Thanks, Forbes!

We were so surprised to find this picture of yours truly headlining Forbes’ list of the Best Shopping Cities In The U.S.!  We woke up with a call from a close friend and were directed to this article, which gives Texas a lot of love…  While they don’t go into detail about any specific stores, they chose to use a picture of Dress Shop to represent the best shopping in the country!  We couldn’t agree more!

Fair haired beauty Betty (Draper) Francis keeps a perfectly polished wardrobe.  Now the wife of a New York politician, Betty’s put-together style reflects her affluent upbringing as well as her expectations of a picture-perfect life.  Love her or hate her, you simply can’t deny her incredible style.  Below, some of our favorite looks for Betty.

A young wife, mother, and member of every committee in Manhattan, Trudy Campbell isn’t afraid to step out in bold colors or trendy prints (and Spring 2011 is leopard all the way).  For you Dress Shop girls who identify with this social butterfly and true city girl, you’ll love our picks for Trudy.

Inspired by Mad Men: The Women of Sterling Cooper Draper Price

For the timeless beauties in your life (and on your list)!

Sharp, sensible and upwardly mobile, Peggy Olson needs to look her best to get ahead at Sterling Cooper Draper Price, but she’s young enough to have a little fun with her wardrobe.  Below, we’ve put together a few items that will take this city girl from day to night.

Joan Harris (nee Holloway) quietly manages to keep the men and women of SCDP in line, all while maintaining a bombshell figure and a wardrobe that makes the most of it.  Her mantra: If you’ve got it, flaunt it.  Below, some of our sassiest picks for Joan.

Parisian Perfection

We love these new pieces that we picked up at market in October.  Designed in Paris and with clever sayings such as “Don’t be shy…  come closer” and “There is only one happiness in life, to love and to be loved,” each piece appears to have a romantic story behind it.  Unique and beautiful, these make perfect gifts!

Come Learn About kiimby at Dress Shop!

If you love your Austin community and you haven’t heard of kiimby yet, you don’t want to miss out on this event:

Please join us at Dress Shop on Wednesday, October 13, at 5:30pm for an easy-going “circle of friends” event to learn about kiimby, which stands for “Keep It In My Backyard.”  kiimby is a new community network that connects Austinites to wonderful, locally owned businesses and locally focused charities and aims to make Austin a stronger community in the process. kiimby makes it easy for people to support local businesses and generate donations for their favorite charities at the same time.

This event is designed for those interested in supporting Austin’s dynamic local business and charity organizations and will feature Austin’s own Dress Shop and Dress for Success as an example of the kind of businesses and charities that work day-in and day-out to make Austin the compassionate, lively community that it is.

Come spend an hour or so connecting with like-minded friends over champagne and learn about how you can help make Austin a stronger community with kiimby, Dress Shop and Dress for Success.

All purchases made during the event will generate donations to Dress for Success Austin and other local non-profits of your choosing.
